Bison in the Mist

It is early. Before the dawn lays its soft warm rays upon the emerald fields. While the mist is still hanging over the grass, the small clouds hide them, until there is a little more light. Then, from seemingly out of nowhere, they appear. Like all of the earth’s secrets, you need to wait a little, for her to share. As we watch, young males play, and a calf runs circles around her mother. Red deer call, creating an unearthly sound that eerily covers the land. A foal whinnies in a nearby pasture. A fox peaks her head out of the grass. A green woodpecker flies from tree to tree. I wonder why I don’t get up this early every morning, but then I understand that mother nature’s secrets are not always for everyone. You have to be lucky, and today, we were.
