ABOUT ME

I grew up in North Vancouver, BC, Canada, but decided to pursue my passion for marine biology abroad. I headed to the UK, where I attended the University of Plymouth for both my bachelor's and master's degrees, where I researched the evolution and ecophysiology of estuarine flatworms (BSc) and the effects of oomycete parasites on the physiological processes of diatoms (MRes). During my MRes, I was hired as a research assistant to work on resource competition in phytoplankton in Swiss lakes at Eawag Aquatic Research in Dübendorf, where I moved a week after finishing. Three months into this work, I took on a project with another group working on co-evolution between aphids, their symbiotic bacteria and parasitoid wasps. I continued with this after finishing with phytoplankton research. Once this project ended, I started working on alpine stream insects and how their emergence time is impacted by altitude and climate change. I am still apart of this project now.
